what can we bring back from Luxembourg?

Do you want to take advantage of your time at the pump to refuel and buy tobacco or alcohol ? Please note that the quantities brought back to France or Belgium are not unlimited.

Bring tobacco back to France or Belgium,

the authorized limits.

Whether to France or Belgium, for example, the amount of tobacco that each adult individual in the vehicle can bring with him is limited to:

800 cigarettes (4 cartons),

1 kg of smoking tobacco,

200 cigars

or 400 cigarillos.

These quantities are cumulative and must be intended for the personal consumption of the individual only.

Alcohol: what we can transport

The importation into France or Belgium of alcohol purchased in Luxembourg or in another country of the European Union is subject to the following limits:

90 liters for wines (including 60 liters of sparkling wines),

110 liters for beers,

10 liters for spirit drinks

(rum, whiskey, tequila, vodka, gin, cognac…),

20 liters for intermediate products

(port, madeira…).

For these products also, the quantities indicated can be cumulated for each category, and are of course intended for personal consumption.

Coffee, tea or perfume: depending on the type of trip.

For other goods, including perfume, coffee or tea, the maximum value must not exceed:

430 euros (for people traveling by air or sea)

300 euros (for other travelers).

Fuel: just a reserve can.

Apart from the fuels contained in the normal tanks of passenger vehicles, the maximum quantity that can be brought back to France or Belgium is 10 liters , i.e. the container of a reserve can.

At any time, Luxembourg, French or Belgian customs may ask you to prove that the goods are reserved for your personal use.

Punishments :

Customs may invoice you for additional charges in the event of non-compliance with these transport rules.

€ 210 for 100 cigarettes; € 143 for 1,000 g of fine cut tobacco intended for rolling cigarettes; € 92 for 1,000 cigars or cigarillos and € 70 for 1,000 grams of other smoking tobacco.

Sanctions can also be applied by the police: confiscation of goods, maximum fine up to 750 euros and in some cases up to one year in prison .
